Santa Clara, CA, November – A California retirement community has become the first in the world to partner with smart property monitor provider Minut to curb cigarette and marijuana smoking on its premises.
Valley Village, in Santa Clara, has installed Minut’s cutting-edge, privacy-safe sensors in over 50 units. The partnership allows management to easily identify rule-breakers, protecting apartments and neighboring residents from the harmful effects of second-hand smoking.
Minut devices are renowned for privacy-safe noise monitoring, especially in the vacation rental market. But they can also detect whether someone is smoking tobacco or cannabis inside a property, making them valuable tools for communities that are home to potentially vulnerable residents with respiratory health conditions.
When smoke is detected, an automatic alert is sent to the property manager’s cell phone or computer. The Valley Village team can also generate custom reports to track where and when smoking alerts occur over time, allowing them to identify trends and implement solutions effectively.
Minut devices are also trained to detect when a regular smoke alarm or carbon monoxide alarm sounds, sending a remote notification to management and effectively turning basic devices into smart alerts.
